A Brief History of Giltsharp Europe Ltd.
Giltsharp Technology (UK) Ltd was established at
the end of 1989 to acquire the Giltsharp Master Franchise Rights
for the UK and Ireland from Giltsharp World Rights Ltd (GWRL), a
company incorporated in the Channel Islands.
Over the following 5 years a network of 40
franchisees was established and Giltsharp became the No.1 provider
of professional sharpening and related services to the Catering and
Hairdressing industries in the UK and Ireland. A period of
consolidation followed during which time a number of issues were
addressed in relation to the improvement of equipment, services and
products and, in 1996, the first web site was established. Internet
sales have since enjoyed a year-on-year increase and now account
for 60% of the Giltsharp Business.
